ATP World Tour Finals Tennis

The 2013 ATP World Tour Finals also known as the 2013 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals will be played at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom from 4 to 11 November 2013.

The 2012 ATP World Tour Finals was conducted from 5 to 12 November 2012 at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. It was the 42nd edition of the tournament (36th in doubles). The tournament organised by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP),a part of the 2012 ATP World Tour. This competition takes place on indoor hard courts. This is the season-ending championships for players who are on the ATP Tour. As against most of the other events on the men's tour, the ATP World Tour Finals is not a straightforward knock-out tournament. The qualifying eight players for the event are split into two groups. In this stage, players play in a round-robin format (players play against all the other players in their group). The two players with the top results in each group reach the semi-finals. Here, thewinners of a group play the runner-ups of the other group. It is a knock-out stage. The doubles competition follows the same format. The current champions (2012) are Novak Djokovic (singles) and Marcel Granollers and Marc López (doubles). In 2012 Tournament, Novak Djokovic - 6–7(6–8), 5–7 -defeated Roger Federer the defending champion who holds the record for the most (6) titles,in the final.

The event which began in 1970 was originally known as the Masters Grand Prix and was part of the Grand Prix Tennis Circuit. It was controlled by the International Lawn Tennis Federation (ILTF) ITF. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) took over the control of the men's tour in 1990 and substituted the Masters with the ATP Tour World Championship. The ITFformed another year-end event known as the Grand Slam Cup, contested by the 16 players with the top records in Grand Slam competitions in that year. The ATP and ITF agreed to terminate the two separate events and make a combinedly controlled event called the Tennis Masters Cup, in December 1999.The Tennis Masters Cup has been played by eight players.
