Pacific Mini Games 2013

The basic idea behind the tournament, The Pacific Games which is an international sports competition, is tounite all the 22 States and Territories of the Pacific. These are monitored by the Council of Pacific Games. These Pacific Games are characterised by the intention to develop acquaintance and association among the countries of the Pacific, through participation in sports, overlooking race, religion or politics.

Pacific Mini games Schedule 2013 :

The first Pacific Games were held in 1963, in Fiji and there after every 4 years. The Games are conducted in a member country or territory of the Council of Pacific Games, "To promote and assist the sports development, to provide an international standard sports competition to the Oceanian peoples in the spirit of brotherhood, and to promote their shared values of integrity, fair play, competence, commitment to excellence, respect for gender equality and tolerance"

The mini-games are the fellowtournament of the Pacific Games. The first mini-games of the Pacific are conducted in 1981 with a sports package cut down, so as to let the States and territories which are ineligible to organize the bigger games, still toconduct an international sporting event. The mini-games also are held every 4 years, in turn with the major Pacific Games like the Olympic Winter and Summer Games.

The Council of Pacific Games is the fonder owner and head of the Pacific Games and Mini Games. The Council is a group of representatives of the 22 States and territories of the Pacific. The Council defines the rules of the competitions, makes sure that the games are conducted in accordance with the rules of the Charter, electing the host country and indicating the sports that are to be practiced or not in the Games.

2013 – IX Mini-Games are hosted by WALLIS and FUTUNA, between September 2 to 12, 2013.
The sports to be conducted are: Athletics, Beach Volleyball, Rugby 7s, Sailing, Taekwondo, Va'a Canoeing, Volleyball, and Weightlifting.
