The National Basketball Association (NBA) is North America's highest professional men's basketball association, comprising of thirty teams: twenty-nine in the United States and one in Canada. This association is a dynamic member of USA Basketball (USAB). USAB is recognized by the International Basketball Federation as the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of basketball in the United States. The NBA is one of the four major North American professional sports Associations, along with Major Association Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Hockey Association (NHL).

The NBA is one of the four major North American professional sports leagues, along with Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), and the National Hockey League (NHL).
The 2013–14 NBA tournaments will be the 68th season of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The regular season is scheduled to start on October 29, 2013, with the 2012–13 NBA champions Miami Heat holding a game against the Chicago Bulls. The 2014 NBA All-Star Game will be contested on February 16, 2014, at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. The regular season will come to an end on April 16, 2014, and the playoffs will commence on April 19, 2014.
As it was announced that the NBA Preseason Games will be held for the first time in Manila, Philippines on October 10, between the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The Preseason will begin on October 4, 2013 and will end on October 25, 2013.
However, the schedule for the 2013-2014 competition has not been released still.The schedule was to be initially, released on July 26th, but could not be released due to some delay.But NBA TV has a special show programmed on the evening of August 6th for the release of the schedule.
The New Orleans Hornets officially changed the name of their franchise as New Orleans Pelicans to begin the 2013–14 spell.
The Cleveland Cavaliers won the number one pick in the NBA draws for the second time in three years, plus the fifth time in franchise history (1971,1986, 2003, and 2011 were the previous four times), and picked Anthony Bennett of UNLV. Thus becamethe first Canadian and first fresher from UNLV to be drafted number one.
